PeakFriend Pty Ltd ACN 688 872 031 ("PeakFriend", "we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share personal information for our residential and small business customers, across all PeakFriend services and monitoring plans (including Simple Business Monitoring and Business Monitoring Pro).
We handle your information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of personal and business information:
Account & Setup Information – Contact details, business or residential address, and any system preferences shared during onboarding.
Monitoring Alerts & Metadata – Sensor alerts, system activity logs, and device status information.
Service Usage Data – How you access alerts, reports, and other service features.
Payment & Billing Information – Billing name, address, and transaction details. Card and payment details are collected and processed by our third-party payment processor; PeakFriend does not store your full card details. Where a security bond or guarantor is required for high-value installations (see our Terms of Service), we may also collect guarantor contact and identity information.
Note: PeakFriend does not store or retain any camera footage. All footage is processed and stored exclusively by our trusted monitoring partner in accordance with their own privacy and security policies, available at Securitas Australia Privacy Policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
Respond to enquiries and provide quotes or service details.
Deliver and manage our services, including security system installation, monitoring, and insights tools.
Process payments and manage billing, including any security bond or guarantor arrangements.
Improve our website, services, and customer experience.
Send updates, newsletters, or promotional content (only if you opt‑in).
Comply with legal obligations and industry regulations.
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with:
Monitoring & Platform Partners (e.g. Alarm.com, Securitas Australia Pty Ltd) to deliver monitoring, alerts, and app functionality.
Payment Processors to securely process payments and billing.
Marketing & CRM Platforms (HubSpot, Meta, Google) to manage customer relationships, communications, and advertising — see Section 6 for details.
IT & Website Support Partners to maintain online platforms and data security.
Regulatory or Legal Authorities where required by law.
All third‑party partners must handle your data in line with the Australian Privacy Principles or a comparable standard.
Overseas Disclosure. Some of our service providers, including Alarm.com, HubSpot, Meta, and Google, are based in or operate infrastructure in the United States. This means your personal information may be disclosed to, and processed in, the United States, as well as other countries where our service providers operate. We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas recipients handle your data consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
4. How We Store, Protect & Retain Your Data
We securely store your personal data using industry‑standard safeguards and take reasonable steps to:
Protect data from unauthorised access, misuse, or loss.
Encrypt sensitive information during transmission.
Limit access to your data to authorised personnel only.
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide services and meet legal requirements. Financial and billing records are retained for 5 years, in line with Australian tax law requirements.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you.
Request corrections to your personal information.
Withdraw consent or unsubscribe from communications.
Request deletion of your data (unless we are required by law to retain it).

6. Cookies & Website Analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies, including:
Google Analytics – to understand website traffic and how visitors use our site.
Google Ads and Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram) – to measure the performance of our advertising and show you relevant ads on Google and Meta platforms, including retargeting.
HubSpot – to manage our customer relationships, contact forms, and marketing communications.
These tools may place cookies on your device and share limited data (such as your interactions with our site or ads) with Google, Meta, and HubSpot. We do not currently use a cookie consent banner; you can control or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings, or opt out of personalised advertising directly via Google Ads Settings and Meta Ad Preferences.
7. Third‑Party Links
Our website may include links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites and recommend reviewing their policies.
8. Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles or mishandled your personal information, you can lodge a complaint by contacting us using the details below. Please include enough detail for us to investigate.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 7 days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last updated" date.
